Instructions & Performance

The Voyager portable fridge for insulin offers remarkable flexibility for travellers on the go, ensuring your medications remain cool whether you have access to power or not. Perfect for any travel scenario, from city breaks to wilderness escapes, here's how to use each of its two cooling methods:

How to Use on USB-Powered Portable Refrigerator Mode

  1. Load Your Medications: Insert your insulin pens, vials, syringes, or other medications into the USB-lid compartment as indicated in our visual guide.
  2. Seal and Connect: Simply close the lid of your mini
travel fridge and connect it to any USB power source. Setup is effortless!

The USB mini medical fridge is compatible with any USB power source, including car cigarette lighters, portable power banks, solar panels, or household power outlets.

Cooling Performance on USB Power

Our Voyager has been rigorously tested under laboratory conditions to offer dependable cooling performance. When plugged into a USB power source, the mini fridge demonstrates unsurpassed cooling performance:

  • It consistently maintains fridge-like temperatures between 2°C and 8°C  for unlimited time as long as the outside temperature does not exceed 35°C.

How to Use The Mini Fridge on Cold Pack Mode

For times when you find yourself away from power sources, the Voyager mini fridge provides a dependable backup cooling option with the included Biogel cold pack. This is especially useful for exploring remote areas or during power outages.

Setting Up Your Mini Fridge for Cold Medicine Storage:

  1. Prepare the Biogel Cold Pack: Shake the Biogel cold pack four to five times to ensure the gel is evenly distributed.
  2. Freeze the Biogel Cold Pack: Place the cold pack in the freezer for 6-8 hours prior to use. It's perfectly fine to leave it in the freezer longer than 8 hours.
  3. Submerge in Lukewarm Water: Submerge the cold pack in lukewarm tap water for 120-180 seconds. If lukewarm water isn't available, you can also leave it at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes. Both methods will help remove the ice layer (frost) from the surface of the cooling component, eliminating the risks of freezing your medication when in direct contact.
  4. Dry and Pack: Towel dry the Biogel cold pack then place it inside the Voyager mini fridge along with your insulin or other medication.
  5. Close and Set! Close the lid securely, and your medications are ready to be kept cool.

For extended cooling periods, it's a good idea to have a second Biogel cold pack ready in the freezer to swap out as needed. Additional Biogel cold packs for the Voyager Mini Portable Fridge for Insulin and Medicine are available for purchase.

Cooling Performance on Cold Pack Mode

When used on its cold pack mode, this medical travel refrigerator offers plenty of time to keep your medication refrigerated. The effectiveness of its cold packs is influenced by external temperatures:

  • Mild Weather Performance: At an ambient temperature of 30°C, the Voyager maintains your insulin and other medications refrigerated at a safe range between 2-8°C for up to 33 hours, and keeps them cool below 26°C for up to 52 hours.
  • Warm Weather Performance: When the temperature rises to 35°C, it still effectively refrigerates your medications between 2-8°C for 30 hours and maintains them below 26°C for 48 hours.
  • Hot Weather Performance: Even at a challenging 40°C, the Voyager ensures your medications stay refrigerated between 2-8°C for 28 hours and remain below 26°C for 46 hours.

Maintenance & Cleaning Instructions

When used with the USB-LID, the Voyager mini fridge cannot be used upside down.

Most importantly, the heat dissipation holes above the USB-LID should not be covered or blocked. If you do not follow this precaution, the cooling effect will weaken and the cooler will break down.

Every few weeks, you can use an air compressor or hairdryer set to cool setting to blow air into the dissipation holes of the USB-Lid to remove the dust inside. This will extend the product's life span and ensure optimal performance.

We highly suggest that you unplug the USB-Cooling LID for 15-20 minutes to rest after 4 days of continuous use in order to extend the product's life expectancy.

Cleaning instructions:

  • Do not directly clean the exterior of the Voyager with water, as it will damage electronic components.
  • You can use a damp cloth to gently wipe the stainless steel thermos and the stainless steel LID by hand.
  • The Biogel-Ice Pack should be cleaned only with a soft cloth.
  • The top part of the USB-LID can be cleaned only by blowing air into the dissipation holes, while the aluminum tube can only be wiped with a soft cloth.
  • If there are any oxidation marks on the surface of the USB-Lid's aluminum tube, wipe and clean it with aluminum cleaner. As its material is aluminum with good thermal conductivity, oxidation is a normal phenomenon.
